Gratitude Coffee

The rain was steady, and the mood was reminiscent of what you would see in a movie portraying a wet day on a busy street in New York, people were covering their heads with papers to run indoors, and those prepared carried umbrellas.

Unfortunately, my spouse and I were the ones unprepared, so we ran toward the entrance.

There was an immediate sense of relief as we walked through the sunshine yellow door. We were greeted by aromas of coffee, plant based baked goods and two smiling faces behind the counter.

I couldn’t help but feel like a child with wonder in my eyes as I looked around. Everything felt as if it were hand picked for its very own purpose in this quaint shop. Clearly the owners have put a lot of love and thought into everything. And they succeeded.

Now as a twin mom, caffeine is very high on my priority list and I am a sucker for a great americano. I am an even greater sucker for a cup of coffee or whatever I can take, HOT.

The owner herself made our americanos, and treated us like old friends rather than customers. What a welcome change to my usual pace and setting of the “go go go”.

Two yellow mugs, a smile, and the perfect seat by the window for natural light while the rain danced its way down the pane had me feeling nostalgic. It was like I felt my every day stress melt away as the caffeine anticipation built.

First sip in, and I can taste the difference that the owners passion makes. In that moment, it all made sense. It’s why your grandmas cooking tastes better. It’s why a smile or hug help you feel better. It’s not just about the passion, it’s about the love. And this place nestled in the hubbub of a busy street in a quick paced world is the breath of fresh air we need. It’s the love, passion, and gratitude that we crave.

Go find them, take a moment to enjoy their labour of love, and always be thankful for someone sharing their passion with you in the form of a coffee in a sunflower yellow mug.
